The Cornish Rex breed dates back to 1950 when the red and white male, Kallibunker, was born on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, England. The newborn male kitten was covered with a thick and curly coat, even his whiskers were curly. . At the time, the owner of the mother, a Mrs Ennismore, was also breeding rex-rabbits and noting the kitten had the  same hair structure, the new mutation was named Rex.
